Welcome to Rocky Skate Club in Rockhampton Queensland
Looking for action, speed, and a good fitness work-out? Why not come and try the sport of inline hockey?
New players are always welcome and are able to "try out" for two sessions before joining the Club. Sunday afternoon sessions are the best time to come along to the Rockhampton Showgrounds, Wandal, between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm (except 8th August (Rocky Swap closure), and 19th and 26th September, and 3rd October (closed on account of school holidays)). Entry is via Gate 6 along Lion Creek Road, Wandal, and the rink is in the Exhibition Pavilion.
Senior Beginners Teams have been introduced into the games schedule. Come along and join in the fun! Senior Beginners teams cater for those players who are new to the sport and don't quite yet have the speed and agility required for the Senior competition.

Rocky Skate Club members returned from the Inline Hockey State Championships in Brisbane last month with a swag of medals and a number of players being selected to represent Queensland at the National Championships in Adelaide next month. Players were selected for North Queensland representative teams to compete at the State Championships from clubs in Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
The 11 & under division fielded 2 teams, one of which went under the banner of Rocky Skate Club as all bar 2 of the players were from Rockhampton. Rocky's 11 & under team dominated the competition with big wins in all but one of their eight preliminary games, scoring a total of 64 goals while conceding only 21. The grand final, however, was a nail biting game, coming down to a penalty shootout after the score was tied at 3 all with Pine Rivers. Rocky won the gold medal with a 2-1 win in the penalty shootout. Mitchell Pailthorpe, Martin Helger, Cody Baker, Bailey Jacobsen and Ryan Jacobsen were all selected to represent Queensland in the division at the Nationals with Ben Robinson as reserve.
With only 2 players in the 17 & under team, North Queensland headed in to the grand final in 1st place. They unfortunately went down in the final, bringing home the silver medal. Junior ladies (Narika Blines the only Rocky player) also came home with silver. Narika was selected for the Queensland Junior Ladies Nationals team.
The 13 & under (2 players) and 15 & under (1 player) divisions both came 4th. Anders Blines, who played in both divisions, was selected for the 13 & under division at Nationals.
Senior divisions contested were Senior Ladies, Senior A and Senior B, with Masters being incorporated in to Senior B. Senior A played under the Rocky banner with 5 local players on the team. With 9 teams in the division, the players proved their worth by taking out the bronze medal, with Rockhampton's Mark Russell the only North Queenslander being offered representation on the Queensland Senior Men's team. Jay Brazier, who also played Senior A, will line up with the Masters at Nationals. Senior ladies (2 Rocky players) also won bronze medals. From our 3 players in Senior B, Alec Renton will join the Queensland Veteran's team in Adelaide.
Rocky Skate Club players journeyed north to Townsville on the May Day weekend for another North Queensland Inline Hockey Challenge. The Senior Team were keen to regain the Cup after being unable to participate in the last round at Cairns at Easter. After a slow start they managed to hold the other teams at bay, winning the final by one goal. It was a close, thrilling final all the way, with the winning goal being scored with less than a minute remaining on the clock! The Rocky 11 and Under Team also won their division, being undefeated all weekend and by a large margin each game. See "Photos" for the winning teams.

Public skating sessions for 2010 have commenced and will continue on Friday nights (7 pm to 9:30 pm) until further notice. There will be no Friday night sessions on Friday 23rd July because no access is permitted to the Showgrounds on account of the Motor Mania event nor on Friday 6th August because the rink barriers have to be dismantled for the Rocky Swap event.
